SmartLink Turns Your Old Ford into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot

Ford is coming out will all kinds of innovative features for its new vehicles, like the FordPass app, which allows drivers to find and reserve parking spaces in advance. There are so many benefits to connecting our smartphones with our cars, it's a shame drivers of older Ford models can't take part.

Or can they?

Ford SmartLink is a way to turn any 2010 – 2016 Ford into a connected car. It plugs into the OBD II port beneath the steering wheel, and instantly upgrades the vehicle to be smartphone-ready. SmartLink users can enjoy:

  • 4G LTE connectivity for up to eight smart devices
  • Remote engine start
  • Remote lock/unlock
  • Vehicle security reports
  • Vehicle location assistance
  • Service scheduling

"From security to performance, we’ve conducted extensive testing and made a number of improvements to ensure Ford SmartLink enhances the customer experience for our owners," said Raj Nair, Ford's executive VP of Global Product Development, and CTO. "We are thrilled to offer this level of convenience and connectivity to our existing customers, extending the value of their vehicles and giving them just one more reason to love their Ford and Lincoln vehicles."

SmartLink is due to hit dealerships this summer, so check in with Osseo Ford Sales & Service Inc. to see if we can get you set up using all the latest smart features in your 2010 – 2016 Ford.
